Periodontal care
What it is and why it is important
Periodontal care is the process of taking care of your gums and teeth. It is important to do this because it helps to prevent gum disease, which can lead to tooth loss. There are a number of things that you can do to take care of your gums and teeth, including brushing and flossing regularly, and visiting your dentist for regular checkups. If you have any concerns about your gums or teeth, be sure to speak to your dentist.
Dr. Jimmer offers the following Periodontic dental services at his practice:
Scaling and Root Planing (Deep Cleaning): This is a process of removing tartar (calculus) and bacteria from the teeth below the gumline. Scaling involves using special instruments to remove tartar from the surfaces of the teeth. Root planing smooths out the rough spots on the roots of the teeth where bacteria can grow.
Oral Hygiene Instruction: This involves teaching patients how to brush and floss their teeth properly. Proper oral hygiene is essential for keeping the gums and teeth healthy.
Periodontal Maintenance: This is a cleaning procedure that is done on a regular basis (usually every 3-6 months) to remove tartar and bacteria from the teeth and gums. This helps to keep the gums and teeth healthy and prevent gum disease.
